Presented as a diptych, Field of Gold unfolds as a landscape suspended outside ordinary time. The two longhorns rest within an entirely golden environment, while the moon rises above them, casting its quiet light across a world where sky, earth, and horizon seem to dissolve into one continuous field.
Gold carries a sense of permanence. It has long been associated with value, light, eternity, and the sacred, yet here it becomes something more contemplative — a color that transforms the landscape into a space beyond the urgency of everyday life. The richness of gold contrasts with the simplicity of the resting figures, suggesting that nothing needs to happen for the moment to possess meaning.
The moon introduces the rhythm of time. Unlike human time, measured through hours and dates, its movement is cyclical — returning, disappearing, and returning again. Beneath it, the longhorns remain still, reminding us that time continues whether we resist it or surrender to its passage.
As a diptych, the work also creates a quiet dialogue between two moments. The division does not interrupt the landscape; instead, it suggests continuity — as if one moment gradually becomes another. What appears to be stillness is therefore filled with movement: the slow passing of night, the changing light, the inevitable transformation of everything that exists.
In this sense, Field of Gold becomes a meditation on time and the human desire to hold onto it. The resting figures do not struggle against its passage. They simply inhabit the present, surrounded by a light that makes even impermanence feel eternal.
The work ultimately suggests that peace may not come from stopping time, but from accepting its movement — allowing ourselves, for a moment, to simply rest within it.
